Hockey Drill – Continuous Warm Up with Timing and Positioning

Hockey Drill – Continuous Warm Up with Timing and Positioning

Description

Drill starts on a whistle then remains continuous.

On the whistle, player 1 who is located just below the face off circle beside the net, goes behind the net to retrieve a puck and passes it (pass 1) to player 2 at the hash marks (break out simulation) who started at the face off dot outside the blue line. On the same side, player 2 then skates across the ice and down the boards (to post up at the hash marks) and receives a pass from player 1.

Player 3 (the shooter), starts at the boards at center ice, skates across the ice along the center red line, goes down the boards heading back the other way (similar to a 360 degree circle), swinging low through the face off circles in support to receive the pass (pass 2) from player 2 located at the hash marks.

Player 3, now with the puck, goes down and shoots keeping the drill continuous by turning into player 1 by immediately retrieving a puck after the shot behind the net, continuing the drill and completing the rotation.

The yellow lines indicate where to rotate.

Focus Points:

To start the drill…player 1 (retrieves and passes to player 2), then rotates to player 2 line.
Player 2 (posts up at the hash marks and passes to player 3), then rotates to player 3 line.
Player 3 (long skate 360 degrees, supports the break out pass) goes down and shoots, turning into player 1 continuing the rotation.
