Description
The drill is whistle generated and alternates from end to end.
All the forwards (blue and green) line up (4 lines) at the blue lines along the boards.
The defensemen (red) in the drill, line up in the middle, above or below the blue lines (should be mobile during the drill).
The other D’s (red) line up at the center red line along the boards prepared to rotate in.
Pucks are located at the opposite adjacent blue lines at the boards.
On the whistle, one end/side starts. Both forwards skate forward through the neutral zone, one with a puck, the other without a puck.
The forward (green) with the puck, passes (pass 1) it to the D (red). Both forwards continue to skate behind the D (red), crossing over, swinging low and wide, turning back up the ice (simulating a transition).
The D (red) who receives the 1st pass, now passes (pass 2) it straight across through the neutral zone to the other D (red) in the drill.
The D immediately touch/bump passes (pass 3) it right back and gaps up the 2 forwards (green) ready to defend a 2 vs 1.
The D (red) now with the puck can choose which forward to pass it to (pass 4), based on the gap being played by the other D…sending them on the 2 on 1.
With the other D facing/defending the 2 vs 1, another D jumps in to fill that spot.
The next whistle prompts the other forwards (blue) to go the other way.
